Senior Care

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation supports select senior care facilities in Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. Mrs. Whitehead was sympathetic to the welfare of senior women of limited means, having grown up among older female family members who struggled to make ends meet. In establishing the Whitehead Foundation, Conkey Pate echoed his mother’s concern by professing “the greatest sympathy for senior women … who have met with adversity in their declining years.”

The Foundation responds to this concern by awarding annual grants to senior care facilities, including nursing homes and hospices. Grantee institutions use the grants to provide need-based financial assistance to senior Christian women. The Foundation does not provide financial assistance directly to individuals. If you are seeking aid for senior care, please contact your institution for information on how to apply. Please see below for a list of institutions that participate in our senior care program. Note the Foundation rarely adds new institutions to this program. For more information, contact Carrie Conway at conway@woodruff.org.
